Comedy @ Utopia - The Launch Night Reviewed

March 23rd saw the first Lonestar Comedy Club at Utopia Bar and Restaurant in Ashford.

Utopia provides an intimate atmosphere to see comedy and the packed crowd enjoyed the comedy, food and drink on offer.

The evening opened with Compere Mark Simmons warming up the crowd with a blend of comedy and banter. Jason Patterson then delivered 25 minutes of sublime comedy ranging across subjects such as being black, gangs, parents and the effect of drugs and drink on taste in Women. The crowd loved it all.

Next up were two newcomers to the Comedy circuit, Angela Barnes and Ged Buthcher. From Maidstone and Ashford the two delivered excellent sets built around a degree of cynicism about their birthplaces and great observational comedy.

The evening ended with Headliner Nick Wilty delivering 40 minutes of top notch comedy which left the crowd wanting more. Nick delivered a series of tales built around his globetrotting lifestyle all of which had superb comedy twists.

The next club takes place on Tuesday 27th April with the Headline being the excellent James Sherwood -

"If you ever wondered what would happen if Bill Bailey
and Marcus Brigstocke had a child..." Chortle

"Quite brilliant" The Scotsman

"Keeps the audience enraptured" AllTheFestivals.com

"Reminiscent of a young Stephen Fry" callthatashow.com

"If you're a music lover, James Sherwood is
the comedian for you" Three Weeks

"Savage satire" Sunday Times

"Piercing" Evening Standard

"Fantastic" Time Out
